The Story of Billie Valentine

Once upon a time in a Texas animal shelter, there was a  little Chihuahua that was very scared because he had just been rescued from the aftermath of horrible hurricane Katrina. No one knows exactly why he was left behind or what his story was , but  somewhere along the way the little fellow lost his trust in humanity. He wouldn’t let anyone near his cage , and he would attack people wanting to take a closer look at him.

All this lasted until a certain human named Debbie came in. She walked up to the cage and for once there was no barking and no biting. The pet-keepers couldn’t believe their eyes. When they told the human of this extraordinary feat, the human was intrigued and decided to take a closer look at this particular little dog.

It was love at first sight and so it was quickly decided that Billie would go home with this human.  Billie liked his 2 new humans, his new home and he even got along with his kitty-sister Charlie. Proud of her new pack member, she took many pictures of Billie to send to the other humans that were once in her pack and she couldn’t believe just how much Billie liked to be in front of the camera.  So the human got a little bolder and bough Billie a few costumes, and the more she took pictures, the happier Billie became. At that very moment, a star was born!

The human started to get so many request from her human-friends for new Billie pictures , cause they said the pictures made them smile. The human decided she couldn’t stop there, the two of them  had something extraordinary that needed to be shared with the world, and so the first Billie Valentine calendar was born with 1 mission : making humans smile all over the world, and helping Billie’s less fortunate brothers and sisters that still needed to find loving homes.

For a few years the two were very content taking pictures, until one December morning when they decided to help their friends at the San Diego Chihuahua Rescue by watching over one of their fosters. Billie was quite curious about this one eyed, very playful pup that was constantly getting in trouble and interfering with his nap time . But , when Billie saw the human had enough love to give to both, he suggested the one eyed brother from another mother should stay and so Patches then also became part of the pack.

Billie’s life has been an adventure. So far, he has moved across the country twice and now, Billie is living in Seattle with his pack of 2 humans, a kitty sister and his one eyed brother. Billie loves to share his every day adventures with his many friends on face book. What the future will hold no one can tell, but one thing is for sure: extraordinary things can come from giving a dog a second chance and that is a tale Billie and his human are happy to tell!
